14 January Lohri Celebration at Women Jail, Ludhiana

On 14 January, Act Humane marked the festival of Lohri with compassion and purpose at the Ludhiana Women’s Jail, bringing warmth, care, and a sense of togetherness to women residents and young infants living with their mothers. Lohri, a festival symbolising warmth, hope, and new beginnings, became an opportunity to share humanity beyond boundaries.

Understanding the special needs of infants residing inside the jail, Act Humane distributed woollen clothing for young children, ensuring they remained protected during the winter season. These thoughtfully shared essentials offered comfort to the infants and reassurance to their mothers, reinforcing the belief that every child deserves care and security, regardless of circumstances.

As part of the Lohri celebration, blankets were distributed to women residents as a gesture of care, respect, and solidarity. More than winter necessities, these blankets represented dignity, compassion, and the warmth of human connection—values that lie at the heart of Act Humane’s mission.

Through this meaningful Lohri initiative, Act Humane reaffirmed its commitment to fostering empathy and humane support for underserved communities, spreading warmth not only through woollens and blankets, but through kindness, dignity, and hope.
