Act Humane Society Supports CityNeeds Daan Utsav 5.0: Spreading the Joy of Giving

Act Humane Society joined hands with CityNeeds and the Municipal Corporation Ludhiana as a co-sponsor of CityNeeds Daan Utsav 5.0, an annual community initiative promoting the spirit of giving, sharing and sustainability. The campaign began on 2 October 2026, encouraging citizens, educational institutions, industries and organisations to donate usable items for people in need. With the support of more than 80 collection centres across Ludhiana, the initiative brought together a strong network of donors and volunteers to make community participation meaningful.

Throughout the campaign, a wide range of essential and reusable items were collected, including clothes, toys, footwear, bedding, utensils, household appliances, groceries and medical supplies. The collected materials were carefully segregated and coordinated with local NGOs to ensure that they reached individuals and families according to their requirements. The initiative also promoted responsible reuse and recycling by encouraging people to give a second life to usable resources and supporting the proper handling of e-waste.

The campaign concluded with a distribution ceremony on 31 October 2026 at the Indoor Stadium, Ludhiana, where the collected items were channelled towards organisations working with underprivileged communities. The initiative recorded an impressive collection of over 1.5 lakh clothes, along with thousands of other useful items. On this occasion, Ms. Harleen Kaur, Founder of Act Humane Society, also received a memento of recognition for the organisation’s contribution and support towards the initiative.

For Act Humane Society, being part of Daan Utsav is an opportunity to strengthen community participation and encourage a culture where sharing resources becomes a meaningful act of service. We believe that something no longer needed by one person can become a valuable resource for another. Together, we can build a more compassionate, inclusive and sustainable society.
