With this vision, Act Humane supported the newly inaugurated Maternal & Child Health (MCH) Unit at UCHC Shimlapuri, Ludhiana by providing a 15 kg stainless-steel industrial washing machine under Mission Jeevni.
Supporting Hygiene in Healthcare Facilities

Supporting Mission Jeevni
The initiative was undertaken in connection with Mission Jeevni, a district-level effort focused on reducing maternal mortality and preventing avoidable maternal deaths in Ludhiana. The mission was initiated under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Himanshu Jain, DC Ludhiana, with a focus on identifying risks early, improving referrals and strengthening care for pregnant women.
Mission Jeevni places importance on the identification and tracking of high-risk pregnancies, timely medical intervention, appropriate referrals and better coordination between healthcare facilities. The district administration has also emphasised that preventing maternal deaths requires coordinated efforts from healthcare professionals, hospitals, field health workers and the wider community.

The occasion was not only about inaugurating a new healthcare unit. It also created an opportunity for stakeholders to discuss further improvements needed for better maternal and child care.
